A Not So Happy Post

Update: The girl in the car crash last Friday was the school superintendent's 22 year old daughter. I am sorry to say she died Saturday morning.

The snow caused us all to be lazy and go to church in Meeteetse Sunday instead of driving in to Cody. It was a good church service but very sad. In a small town like Meeteetse everyone knows everyone and when someone dies everyone feels it.

Today was Canadian Thanksgiving and since we are going to be in Brazil for American Thanksgiving and our base is riddled with Candians we celebrated. We had a big turkey meal with all the fixins. It ended quite sadly with a trip to the hospital. Thus is my life.

About a week ago Jen injured her back and was just starting to feel better but she turned wrons somehow and found herself in horrible pain. I did not know anything was up until one of the girls came to the kitchen to get Daniel and a little later he came and said what was up. I went to the staff lounge to find her on the floor covered in a sleeping bag shaking and shivering. We decided to take her in to the hospital. During the drive she thankfully started feeling better and acting more normal. Then we arrived at the hospital. I was at first thankful it was small and nothing was going on but later decided to just be thankful Jen was not in horrible pain anymore. Of all our students the injured one had to be the minor, just six more dasy and she will be 18, and of course no one thought to bring the medical release form and then she was Canadian to boot and the receptionist did not process insurance from Canada unless they had a US address. So we made phonecalls to the insurance and got her an address and called back to the base to get the form faxed. All of this took a long while but finally we were just waiting for the fax, and waiting, and waiting. At long last Jen and I headed back into the ER and after several awkward questions discovered that of course the doctor could do nothing, obviously there were no broken bones due to how she got the injury so x-rays were pointless. He sent us home with vicodin and the number for a chiropractor. it has been a long day. As excited as i am to have internet again I think it is time to go to bed.
